Hair Envy: Traditional Products and Healthy Hair

It doesn't seem fair, but its okay. I recently discovered a hair V-logger on YouTube named "Missthis897" and she has GORGEOUS hair. She has a lot of tutorials on really cute and creative protective styles and up-do's, I will be trying a few of her styles on my own hair sometime soon. But the part that doesn't seem fair is when I watched her hair regimen video, she showed and named "traditional" (beauty supply and drug store) products that I've had to swear off to see a real change in my hair. It seems there are a lot of women on healthy hair journeys that use any old products and their hair still thrives. My hair dries up at the mere sight of an SLS shampoo or silicone based moisturizer. I spend more money on my all-natural products (however, in exchange I get much better quality) and I usually have to go through a lot more to get them--very few are available for pick up at the local beauty supply or big box (ie Target) store. But don't get me wrong I love the all-natural products I've discovered and the great results they have given my hair. I have no plans to go back to traditional hair products, I even plan to phase out my other traditional beauty products and go the all-natural route with skin and cosmetics as well. I just feel a slight tinge of envy when I see someone with beautiful relaxed hair that I know uses run-of-the-mill hair products, I guess it makes me feel like I have to work a little harder on my hair journey than they do.

1st post in the month of June

Today is June 23 and I am so embarrassed that it has been so long since I last posted on my blog. I've got to do better. I've been really inspired lately by my usual round up of hair bloggers (see blogs I follow) and v-loggers as well as by the progress I am seeing in my own hair. I have decided to streamline my hair regimen and re-vamp my stretching plans (again). I really feel that what I'm doing with my hair has been working so far, and I plan to keep it up. Next month will mark the 1 year anniversary of my hair journey and even though my hair won't be exactly where I want it length-wise, I can definitely see the light at the end of the tunnel (and its not a train). I want to get back to the core of why I started this blog, to share my hair journey and the benefits that I've experienced using all natural hair products while on this journey. I want other people to know that growing healthy, Afro-textured, relaxed hair long won't happen over night, but it can and does happen. These are all topics I plan to post on in the next few weeks and I plan to be far more consistent about it than I have been. This blog is fun and I really enjoy writing it, so its time go get back to the good stuff. Relaxed Redefined is back on track!
